Zetamicin

Zetamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic containing netilmicin sulfate as the active ingredient. It is marketed by Laboratori Guidotti (a subsidiary of the Menarini Group) in Italy under license from Schering Corp. As an aminoglycoside, it works by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and causing misreading of the genetic code, which leads to bacterial cell death. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of serious systemic infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria, including those that may be resistant to other aminoglycosides like gentamicin or tobramycin. It is administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection and is available in various strengths ranging from 15 mg to 300 mg per vial.
