Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zexie Jiangzhi Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pharmaceutical developed by Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the management of hyperlipidemia. The formulation is primarily composed of an extract from the rhizome of *Alisma orientale* (Water Plantain). Its therapeutic profile is driven by bioactive triterpenoids, specifically alisols (such as Alisol A and Alisol B 23-acetate), which exert lipid-lowering effects through multiple pathways: inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase to decrease endogenous cholesterol synthesis, modulating the farnesoid X receptor (FXR) to promote bile acid excretion, and potentially inhibiting acyl-CoA cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) to reduce cholesterol absorption. It is clinically indicated for patients with elevated total cholesterol and triglycerides, often associated with the TCM diagnosis of phlegm-dampness accumulation.
