ZF2001 is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed to prevent COVID-19. It consists of a tandem-repeat dimeric receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in a three-dose regimen over two months. Clinical trials have demonstrated that it is safe and well tolerated, with phase III data showing an overall efficacy of 82% against symptomatic COVID-19, 93% against the Alpha variant, and 78% against the Delta variant. The vaccine has been approved for use in China, Colombia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan[1][2][7]. It was developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences[1].
