Overview

ZH853 is a synthetic peptide analog of endomorphin that acts as a potent and selective mu-opioid receptor (MOR) agonist. Developed primarily for the treatment of chronic pain and opioid use disorder (OUD), ZH853 is designed to provide the analgesic benefits of traditional opioids while minimizing common adverse effects such as respiratory depression, reward-driven abuse liability, and severe withdrawal symptoms. Preclinical research demonstrates that ZH853 does not induce self-administration or locomotor activation in rodents and can effectively suppress oxycodone-seeking behavior and morphine withdrawal signs. Its unique pharmacological profile suggests it may serve as a safer alternative for long-term pain management and as a pharmacotherapy for addiction recovery.
