Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ZHB118 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting Immunoglobulin E (IgE), developed by Jiangsu Zhonghong Biopharmaceutical Research Institute. It is designed for the treatment of IgE-mediated allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma. ZHB118 functions by binding to the Cε3 domain of free IgE in the circulation, thereby preventing IgE from interacting with the high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) located on the surface of mast cells and basophils. By blocking this interaction, ZHB118 inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and leukotrienes, which are responsible for the symptoms of allergic reactions. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China to establish its safety and efficacy profile relative to existing anti-IgE therapies.
