Overview
Zhengfeng Xingnao granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute cerebral hemorrhage (hemorrhagic stroke). The preparation is designed to be used as an adjunct to standard Western medical treatments during the acute phase of intracranial hemorrhage. Its therapeutic goals include promoting the absorption of the hematoma, reducing perihematomal edema, and mitigating neurological deficits. In TCM theory, the formula is intended to extinguish wind and awaken the brain, addressing the pathological patterns of internal wind and phlegm-heat often associated with stroke. Clinical evaluation in Phase 2 trials has focused on its efficacy in reducing mortality and improving functional outcomes as measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Modified Rankin Scale (mRS).
