Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhengqi Liujun Cancer Suppression Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily investigated for its therapeutic potential in colorectal cancer (CRC). The decoction is based on the TCM theory of addressing "dampness toxicity" and "spleen deficiency" by strengthening the body's "Zhengqi" (vital energy). It typically incorporates the "Zhenqi" herbs—*Ligustrum lucidum* (Nüzhenzi) and *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi)—combined with the classic "Liujunzi" (Six Gentlemen) decoction, which includes *Panax ginseng*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Poria cocos*, and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*. Research conducted by Southwest Medical University suggests that the formula works through immune regulation and the modulation of the gut microecology to inhibit tumor progression and improve the immune status of patients with colorectal cancer.
