Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhengqi tablet is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Shuguang Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. Approved by the Shanghai Medical Products Administration during the 2022 Omicron outbreak, the formulation is designed to invigorate qi, resolve dampness, and detoxify. It is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Saposhnikovia divaricata*, and *Pogostemon cablin*. The tablet is primarily used to enhance the body's immune defense (Zheng Qi) and mitigate symptoms in patients with mild COVID-19 or those in recovery. Its mechanism of action involves a multi-component, multi-target approach that includes immunomodulation of cytokine levels and potential interference with viral entry and replication pathways.
