Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhenju Jiangyapian is an approved oral antihypertensive combination drug developed and manufactured by Huabao Pharmaceutical (Suzhou Huabao Pharmaceutical). It is a hybrid formulation that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) ingredients with conventional Western pharmaceuticals. The standard formulation typically includes extracts of wild chrysanthemum (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici) and pearl powder (Concha Margaritifera Usta) alongside the flavonoid rutin, the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, and the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist clonidine hydrochloride. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. While the TCM components are intended to clear heat and calm the liver according to traditional theory, the primary pharmacological blood-pressure-lowering effects are driven by the inhibition of the sodium-chloride symporter in the kidneys and the activation of central alpha-2 receptors.
