Zhenqi Fuzheng granules

Zhenqi Fuzheng granules (ZQFZ) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine formulation composed of two main herbal ingredients: Astragali Radix (Astragalus membranaceus, or Huangqi) and Ligustri Lucidi Fructus (Fructus ligustri lucidi, or Nvzhenzi). [6, 8] This botanical product is primarily used as an adjuvant therapy in oncology to improve immunity, enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and reduce their adverse effects. [2] It has demonstrated immunomodulatory and anti-tumor effects, protecting bone marrow and adrenal cortex function while promoting the recovery of normal bodily functions. [2, 3] Studies suggest its mechanism involves multiple biological targets and pathways, including Interleukin-6 (IL-6), STAT3, EGFR, and TNF, as well as the PI3K-Akt and IL-17 signaling pathways. It also appears to modulate the NF-κB pathway and gut microflora. [8] The formulation is used for various conditions including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colorectal cancer, and general debility following illness or treatment. [1, 6, 8]
