Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhibai Dihuang Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula that builds upon the classic Liuwei Dihuang Pill by adding *Anemarrhena asphodeloides* (Zhimu) and *Phellodendron amurense* (Huangbai). Traditionally used to treat symptoms associated with "yin deficiency and internal heat," such as night sweats and dizziness, it is currently being investigated for its potential to mitigate bone mineral density (BMD) loss in elderly prostate cancer patients. This bone loss is a common side effect of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), also known as drug castration. The formula is hypothesized to regulate bone metabolism and inflammatory cytokines, potentially balancing the activity between osteoblasts and osteoclasts to preserve bone structure in patients with hormone-sensitive cancers.
