Overview

Zhiganqing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically designed for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The formula is a combination of several botanical extracts, including *Alisma plantago-aquatica* (rhizome), *Crataegus pinnatifida* (fruit), *Cassia obtusifolia* (seed), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (root), and *Nelumbo nucifera* (leaf). Zhiganqing functions by modulating lipid metabolism and reducing hepatic fat accumulation, primarily through the activation of the SIRT1/AMPK signaling pathway and the regulation of PPAR-alpha. It also demonstrates anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help mitigate liver injury and prevent the progression of steatosis to steatohepatitis (NASH).
