zhijiangning

Zhijiangning (脂降宁) is an oral combination product containing both traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) herbs and small molecule vitamins, developed and marketed by Baiyunshan Hansen (Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and the prevention of atherosclerosis. The formulation typically includes a blend of herbal extracts such as Hawthorn (Crataegus), Processed Polygonum multiflorum, Cassia seed, Lotus leaf, Alisma, Mulberry mistletoe, and Poria, supplemented with small molecules including Niacin (Nicotinic acid), Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid), and Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine). Zhijiangning works through a multi-targeted approach: the herbal components are traditionally used to resolve phlegm and promote blood circulation to regulate lipid metabolism, while Niacin acts as an agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor GPR109A to inhibit lipolysis in adipose tissue, thereby reducing the synthesis of VLDL and LDL cholesterol.
