Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhike Babutiegao is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hydrogel patch (cataplasm) developed by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute tracheobronchitis. It is specifically indicated for patients exhibiting the TCM pattern of exterior cold and lung heat (外寒内热). The formulation is designed to be applied topically, allowing for the transdermal absorption of herbal active ingredients to provide antitussive and anti-inflammatory effects. As a Babutiegao (cataplasm), it utilizes a hydrogel matrix which typically provides better skin hydration and drug release characteristics compared to traditional rubber-based plasters. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China to assess its efficacy in reducing cough symptoms and improving clinical recovery in adult patients.
