Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhisou (specifically Zhisou Oral Liquid or Mixture) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Shantou Central Hospital for the treatment of small airway disease (SAD). Small airway disease is characterized by inflammation and obstruction of the peripheral airways with an internal diameter of less than 2 mm, often serving as an early pathological indicator for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma. The formulation is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles aimed at ventilating the lungs, relieving cough, and resolving phlegm. Clinical studies conducted by the developer have demonstrated that Zhisou improves small airway function parameters, including maximal mid-expiratory flow (MMEF) and forced expiratory flow at 50% and 75% of vital capacity (FEF50, FEF75), while reducing airway hyperresponsiveness and local inflammation.
