Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhizhu Tongbian is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Jianmin Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of functional constipation. The drug is primarily composed of *Fructus Aurantii Immaturus* (Zhishi), *Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae* (Baizhu), and *Aloe* (Luhui). It is specifically indicated for patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of spleen deficiency and internal heat accumulation. Mechanistically, the formula promotes gastrointestinal motility and regulates the secretion of digestive hormones such as motilin and gastrin. The inclusion of Aloe provides an anthraquinone-based stimulant laxative effect, which increases intestinal peristalsis and water secretion into the colon. Zhizhu Tongbian is administered orally in capsule form and is approved for marketing in China.
