Zhongfengxingnao formula

Zhongfengxingnao formula (ZFXN), also known as FYTF-919, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal compound developed by the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Administered as an oral liquid, the formulation is composed of four primary Chinese herbs and contains active components such as salvianolic acid B and ferulic acid. ZFXN aims to reduce brain edema, promote hematoma absorption, and modulate the immune system by inhibiting the NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammatory axis and the CaMKII/NF-κB p65/NLRP3/GSDMD signaling pathway. While it has been used clinically in China for over two decades, a large-scale Phase 3 trial (the CHAIN study) recently demonstrated that ZFXN did not significantly improve functional recovery, survival, or quality of life in patients with moderate to severe ICH.
