Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhongtongning plaster is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical preparation developed by the Shaanxi Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and other bone and joint disorders characterized by pain, swelling, and restricted movement. The formulation functions by promoting blood circulation, resolving stasis, and alleviating pain through its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing inflammatory markers such as Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α) in synovial fluid, leading to improved joint function and reduced pain scores. It is utilized as a registered in-hospital preparation in Shaanxi Province, China.
