Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhuijianpan Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction primarily utilized for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and associated radiculopathy. The formula is designed to address the TCM patterns of liver and kidney deficiency combined with blood stasis and inflammatory obstruction. Pharmacologically, Zhuijianpan Fang exerts potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and reducing the levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in the affected nerve roots and intervertebral disc tissues. Clinical studies, particularly those conducted in China, suggest that the decoction may promote the resorption of herniated disc material and improve local microcirculation, thereby alleviating pain and improving functional outcomes in patients with chronic low back pain and sciatica.
