Overview

Zifaxaban (also known as zhifeishaban, Zifa01, or TY-602) is an orally active, direct, and selective small molecule inhibitor of coagulation Factor Xa (FXa). Developed by the Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, zifaxaban competitively inhibits human FXa with high affinity (IC50 of 11.1 nM) and exhibits greater than 10,000-fold selectivity over other serine proteases. It is being developed as an oral anticoagulant for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disorders, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. Clinical trials, including Phase II studies in China, are evaluating its efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in patients with acute symptomatic deep vein thrombosis.
