Overview

Zifexaban (Chinese name: 知非沙班) is a small molecule oral anticoagulant developed by Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research. It is classified as a novel chemical drug (Class 1 in China). Zifexaban acts as a direct inhibitor of coagulation Factor Xa, thereby interrupting the blood coagulation cascade and preventing thrombus formation. Its primary indication under clinical investigation is the treatment of venous thrombosis. As of now, it has reached Phase 2 clinical trials in China[1].
