Zifibancimig is an investigational bispecific monoclonal antibody designed for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). It targets and inhibits both angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), two key mediators involved in abnormal blood vessel growth, vascular leakage, and inflammation in the retina. By simultaneously blocking these pathways, zifibancimig aims to stabilize retinal vessels, reduce leakage and inflammation, inhibit neovascularization, and potentially provide a more durable therapeutic effect compared to single-target agents. The drug is administered via intravitreal injection or through a Port Delivery implant system for sustained intraocular release. Zifibancimig is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy in patients with nAMD[1][2][3][5][6].
