Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zihua Wenfei granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Guangdong Province Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital for the treatment of post-infectious cough (PIC). It is specifically indicated for patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of cold-phlegm obstructing the lung, which typically manifests as a persistent cough following an acute respiratory tract infection. The formulation is composed of several botanical extracts, including *Peucedanum decursivum* (Zihua Qianhu), *Aster tataricus* (Ziwan), and *Tussilago farfara* (Kuandonghua), which are traditionally used to ventilate the lungs, dispel cold, and resolve phlegm. Clinical studies, including Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials in China, have evaluated its efficacy in reducing cough frequency and severity by modulating airway inflammation and reducing cough reflex sensitivity.
