Overview

The Zika vaccine (gorilla adenovirus) is a preclinical-stage viral vector vaccine candidate developed by Precigen (formerly Intrexon) in collaboration with Harvest Fund Management. The vaccine utilizes a gorilla-derived adenoviral (GRAd) vector to deliver genetic sequences encoding Zika virus antigens, specifically the pre-membrane (prM) and envelope (E) proteins. By expressing these antigens in vivo, the vaccine is designed to elicit both neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses to protect against Zika virus infection. Although early research demonstrated immunogenicity and protection in animal models, the program is currently considered a discontinued or early-stage research asset and is not part of Precigen's active clinical development pipeline.
