Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ZIKS Arthritis Pain Relief Cream is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical analgesic combination product developed and marketed by Nnodum Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, simple backache, strains, and sprains. The formulation contains three active ingredients: methyl salicylate, menthol, and capsaicin. Methyl salicylate and menthol function as counterirritants, stimulating sensory receptors in the skin to create cooling and warming sensations that mask deeper visceral pain. Capsaicin, a TRPV1 receptor agonist, provides long-term analgesia by inducing the release and subsequent depletion of substance P from peripheral sensory neurons.
