It is indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, simple backache, strains, and sprains. The formulation contains three active ingredients: methyl salicylate, menthol, and capsaicin. Methyl salicylate and menthol function as counterirritants, stimulating sensory receptors in the skin to create cooling and warming sensations that mask deeper visceral pain. Capsaicin, a TRPV1 receptor agonist, provides long-term analgesia by inducing the release and subsequent depletion of substance P from peripheral sensory neurons.
