Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ziltivekimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits interleukin-6 (IL-6), a cytokine involved in inflammation[2][5][7]. Developed as an anti-inflammatory agent by Novo Nordisk (originally MedImmune/Corvidia Therapeutics), it is being investigated for the treatment of chronic diseases associated with systemic inflammation such as heart failure with inflammation and cardiovascular risk following acute myocardial infarction[4][5][7]. Ziltivekimab has demonstrated significant reductions in biomarkers of inflammation like high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in clinical trials[6]. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and remains investigational; it has not been approved for use anywhere globally[4][5].
