Zilxi is a topical foam formulation of minocycline, a tetracycline-class antibiotic, indicated for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults. It is the first and only FDA-approved topical minocycline product for rosacea. Zilxi delivers minocycline via a proprietary Molecule Stabilizing Technology (MST) platform, allowing effective local delivery to affected skin with reduced systemic exposure compared to oral formulations. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and anti-inflammatory effects relevant to rosacea pathophysiology[1][3][6].
