Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zinaxin Glucosamine is a combination botanical and nutraceutical product developed by Ferrosan AS. It is formulated as a capsule containing 170 mg of the EV.EXT 35 ginger extract mixture (standardized from *Zingiber officinalis* Roscoe) and 500 mg of glucosamine sulphate. The product is designed to leverage the anti-inflammatory properties of ginger, which acts through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), alongside the joint-supporting effects of glucosamine. Notably, the ginger extract component is also intended to provide gastric protection by increasing prostaglandin production in the gastric mucosa, potentially mitigating NSAID-induced gastropathy. The product has been investigated in Phase IV clinical trials in Russia for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee and for its protective effects against nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug-induced gastric damage.
