Zinbro-S is an approved ophthalmic combination solution developed and marketed by Sapient Laboratories for the treatment of bacterial eye infections and associated symptoms such as irritation, redness, and itching. The formulation contains sulfacetamide (a sulfonamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial dihydropteroate synthase to block folic acid synthesis), chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine that targets the histamine H1 receptor to alleviate allergic symptoms), zinc sulfate (an astringent that reduces redness and irritation), boric acid (a mild antiseptic), sodium chloride (to maintain isotonicity), and chlorobutanol (as a preservative). It is indicated for conditions such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, iritis, trachoma, and ophthalmia neonatorum.
