zinc aluminium ointment

Zinc aluminium ointment is a novel topical formulation developed by the Digestive Diseases Department at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile for the treatment of faecal incontinence. The ointment contains zinc and aluminium as its primary active ingredients and is applied to the perianal region. In clinical research, specifically a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, the ointment demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing faecal incontinence symptoms as measured by the Wexner score and improving patient quality of life via the Fecal Incontinence Quality of Life (FIQL) score. The treatment is typically applied for a period of 3 to 4 weeks and has been reported to be well-tolerated with no significant adverse effects.
