Overview

Zinc dibutyldithiocarbamate is a dithiocarbamate salt and the zinc salt of dibutyldithiocarbamic acid. It is primarily used as an ultra-fast accelerator in the vulcanization of natural and synthetic rubber and as a stabilizer in rubber-based adhesive systems. In addition to its industrial uses, it serves as an allergenic agent in epicutaneous patch tests for diagnosing allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) in individuals aged six years or older. The compound acts as a dermatological sensitizer and allergen by forming immunogenic protein–hapten complexes upon binding to skin proteins. It also has roles as an antifungal agrochemical and can cause allergic reactions or cytotoxicity under certain conditions[1][2][3][4].
