Zinc oxide + ozonated oil is a topical combination therapy used for the management of various inflammatory and infectious skin conditions, including dermatitis, diaper rash, and chronic wounds. Zinc oxide serves as a physical barrier and mild astringent, protecting the skin from moisture and external irritants while providing a soothing effect. The ozonated oil component, typically derived from olive or sunflower oil, contains stable ozonides that release oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon contact with the skin. This process facilitates a multi-faceted therapeutic effect: it acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent against bacteria, fungi, and viruses; it stimulates the expression of growth factors such as VEGF to promote angiogenesis and tissue regeneration; and it modulates the inflammatory response by downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines. This combination is frequently employed as a non-steroidal and non-antibiotic alternative in dermatology and wound care.
