Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Zinc oxide + titanium dioxide** is a topical combination of two inorganic mineral ultraviolet filters used in over-the-counter sunscreen products for broad-spectrum photoprotection. These agents act primarily by forming a protective film on the skin that reflects, scatters, and partially absorbs ultraviolet radiation across the UVA and UVB ranges; titanium dioxide contributes stronger UVB and short-UVA coverage, while zinc oxide provides broader UVA coverage. The combination is used to help prevent sunburn and, when paired with other sun-protection measures, reduce the risk of skin cancer and photoaging. It is not a single proprietary pharmaceutical asset with one sponsor, but a widely used multi-manufacturer topical sunscreen combination marketed in creams, lotions, and similar dermatologic formulations.
