Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zinc PCA is a water-soluble zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA), an amino acid derivative naturally found in the skin[1][2][3][4]. It combines the properties of zinc, which normalizes sebum (oil) production and has antimicrobial effects, with PCA, a natural moisturizing factor essential for hydration and skin energy processes[1][3][4]. Zinc PCA reduces excess oil, minimizes acne breakouts, controls inflammation and redness, inhibits the growth of acne-causing bacteria (*Cutibacterium acnes*), and supports collagen synthesis for anti-aging benefits[1][2][3][4]. It is used primarily in topical skincare products (creams, serums, cleansers, moisturizers, toners, and masks), especially for oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin[2][3][4].
