Overview
Zincula is an approved ophthalmic combination solution developed by Juggat Pharma (a division of Jagdale Industries) for the relief of eye irritation, eye strain, and allergic conjunctivitis. The formulation contains naphazoline, zinc sulfate, boric acid, and sodium chloride. Naphazoline is a sympathomimetic agent that acts as an agonist on alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction of conjunctival blood vessels to reduce redness and congestion. Zinc sulfate acts as an astringent to precipitate proteins and clear mucus from the outer surface of the eye, while boric acid provides mild antiseptic properties, and sodium chloride maintains isotonicity to soothe and cleanse the eye.
