Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zindac is an oral generic formulation of ranitidine, a histamine H2 receptor antagonist, manufactured by Martin & Brown Biosciences. It is primarily used to reduce gastric acid production in the treatment and prevention of conditions such as peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, and indigestion. By competitively blocking histamine H2 receptors on the parietal cells of the stomach, it effectively inhibits both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion. It is also utilized to prevent gastric injury associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and stress-related mucosal damage in critically ill patients.
