Zintoma

Zintoma is a botanical drug formulation consisting of ginger powder (*Zingiber officinale* rhizome), developed by the Qazvin University of Medical Sciences and manufactured by Goldaru. It is primarily investigated for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties in managing postoperative sequelae, such as pain, edema (swelling), and trismus, particularly following dental surgeries like impacted third molar extraction. Zintoma's mechanism of action involves the dual inhibition of the cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) pathways of arachidonic acid metabolism. This dual inhibition reduces the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, offering a pharmacological profile similar to dual-acting NSAIDs but with a potentially improved safety profile regarding gastrointestinal and renal side effects.
