Girentuximab selectively targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), a cell surface antigen highly expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and some other tumors. The combination enables non-invasive PET imaging of CAIX-expressing tumors, supporting diagnosis, disease staging, and treatment planning.
