Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zishen Qingli Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly those characterized by the TCM pattern of Kidney Deficiency and Damp-Heat. The decoction typically contains a combination of herbs such as *Anemarrhena asphodeloides*, *Phellodendron amurense*, *Dioscorea septemloba*, and *Plantago asiatica*. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to clear heat, resolve dampness, and nourish kidney yin, which collectively helps to reduce inflammation, inhibit bacterial growth, and enhance the host's local immune response in the urinary tract. Pharmacological studies suggest it may modulate the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
