Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zishen Tongluo Formula (ZTF) is an oral Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It is a simplified version of the Qingluo Tongbi formula, which was originally created by Professor Zhou Zhongying and has been used clinically for several decades. ZTF is composed of five herbal ingredients: *Tripterygium wilfordii* Hook.f., *Bombyx mori* L., *Sinomenium acutum* (Thunb.) Rehder & E.H.Wilson, *Rehmannia glutinosa* (Gaertn.) DC., and *Panax notoginseng* (Burkill) F.H.Chen. Preclinical research in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mouse models has demonstrated that ZTF improves joint inflammation and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine levels by restoring the balance between T-helper 17 (Th17) cells and regulatory T (Treg) cells.
