Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zishui Qinggan Decoction is a classical traditional Chinese medicine formula (TCMF) used primarily for alleviating menopausal symptoms induced by endocrine therapy in breast cancer patients and for the treatment of depressive symptoms. It has also been used clinically for perimenopausal gall disease. The decoction consists of multiple herbal ingredients and exerts its effects through multi-target mechanisms including modulation of synaptic plasticity, improvement of mitochondrial function, reduction of neuroinflammation (partly via upregulation of PGC-1α), and regulation of key signaling pathways such as PI3K-Akt and MAPK. Chemical profiling has identified numerous components including monoterpenoid glycosides, iridoid glycosides, phenethyl alcohol glycosides, phenols and phenolic glycosides[1][2][8]. Network pharmacology suggests that targets like AKT1 are involved in its efficacy[1]. The formula is typically administered as a water extract or granule.
