Overview

ZJ-S-0106 is an investigational cell therapy consisting of CD73-positive natural killer (NK) cells, currently under development by Shenzhen Second People's Hospital for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The product utilizes NK cells—innate immune cells known for their role in surveillance and regulation—that have been characterized by the expression of CD73 (5'-nucleotidase). CD73 plays a critical role in the purinergic signaling pathway by catalyzing the conversion of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) to adenosine, a nucleoside with potent anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. By introducing these cells, the therapy aims to modulate the neuroinflammatory environment in the brain, potentially reducing the progression of Alzheimer's disease. A multicenter clinical trial (ChiCTR2600125767) is evaluating the safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of ZJ-S-0106 in patients also receiving rehabilitation therapies.
