Overview

ZL056 is an orally administered glyco[D]peptide compound developed by Zylacta Corporation for the treatment of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and other chronic viral infections, including HBV, EBV, and HIV. It is derived from purified peptidoglycans of probiotic bacterial cell walls using proprietary eDD™ technology. Unlike direct-acting antivirals, ZL056 functions by mobilizing the host immune system and modulating host pathways, specifically targeting gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT). Clinical observations indicate that ZL056 consistently reduces serum GGT levels, which is associated with decreased oxidative stress and improved liver function. It is also being explored for the management of chronic liver disease and other conditions where elevated GGT is a risk factor.
