Overview

ZM-012 is a novel formulation of metronidazole, an anti-infective therapeutic developed by Zomedica Pharmaceuticals for veterinary use, specifically targeting acute diarrhea in dogs. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole class prodrug that inhibits nucleic acid synthesis by forming nitroso radicals, which disrupt the DNA of microbial cells, leading to cell death in susceptible anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
