Overview

ZOC2017217 is a first-in-class investigational small molecule topical eye drop (0.4% concentration) developed by Ocusun for the treatment of age-related cataracts. The drug's active ingredient is a derivative of lanosterol, a naturally occurring sterol that has been shown to reverse protein aggregation in the lens. By targeting the protein misfolding and aggregation that underlie cataract formation, ZOC2017217 aims to reduce lens opacity and improve visual function. It has completed Phase I and Phase II clinical trials in China and is undergoing a Phase II pilot study in the United States (NCT07395986).
