Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zoderm is a brand name associated with two distinct topical dermatological products. One formulation is **ZoDerm 5.75% Benzoyl Peroxide Hydrating Wash**, a small molecule antibacterial treatment indicated for acne vulgaris. It works by releasing free-radical oxygen, which oxidizes bacterial proteins in *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*) and provides keratolytic effects. This version was developed for DERM/arts, a division of Doak Dermatologics (a subsidiary of Bradley Pharmaceuticals). The second product is **Zoderm Cream or Lotion**, which contains the active ingredient **oxiconazole**, an imidazole antifungal. Oxiconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes, by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase. This formulation is used to treat superficial fungal infections such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm).
