Zoflox

Zoflox is a brand of ofloxacin, a second-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic marketed by Yash Pharma Laboratories. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, as well as ocular and otic infections. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting two essential bacterial enzymes: DNA gyrase (a type II topoisomerase) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are responsible for managing DNA supercoiling and separating interlinked DNA strands during replication. By blocking these processes, Zoflox prevents bacterial DNA synthesis and cell division, leading to a bactericidal effect against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
