Overview

Zongertinib (C-14) is a radiolabeled form of zongertinib (BI 1810631), an irreversible tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) developed by Boehringer Ingelheim. It specifically targets the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) while sparing wild-type EGFR. This carbon-14 labeled variant is utilized in Phase 1 clinical trials to conduct ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) studies, mass balance assessments, and to determine absolute bioavailability. The parent compound, zongertinib, is indicated for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring HER2 (ERBB2) tyrosine kinase domain activating mutations.
