Overview
Zopocianine (OTL78) is a prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeted fluorescent imaging agent developed for intraoperative visualization of prostate cancer tissue. It is a small molecule conjugated to a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye that binds specifically to PSMA, which is overexpressed in the majority of prostate cancer cells. When administered prior to surgery and visualized with NIR imaging systems, zopocianine enables real-time identification and demarcation of malignant tissue during radical prostatectomy and lymph node dissection. This targeted approach aims to improve the detection and complete removal of cancerous tissues by providing enhanced contrast between tumor and normal tissues during surgery[6][10].
