Overview

ZP-1 is a peptide-based epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) inhibitor developed for veterinary use. It is intended to treat ocular surface diseases characterized by a lack of surface hydration, such as keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), commonly known as dry eye, in dogs. The drug was originally discovered by Parion Sciences, licensed to Zoion Pharma for veterinary applications, and subsequently, Ceva Santé Animale acquired worldwide development and commercial rights. ZP-1 had successfully completed a proof-of-concept clinical trial in canine KCS at the time of the licensing agreement with Ceva.
